Horwich Carpets was founded in 1959 by Walter Davies, a larger than life character with an entrepreneurial spirit and a deep pride for his Boltonian roots.
Starting out as a small carpet shop in central Horwich, Walter supplied carpets to most of the local community, many of whom worked at the famous Loco Works.
Making beautiful homes since 1959
Walters son Russell along with his wife Jean joined the business in the 1970s and the store continued to thrive becoming one of the most well-known and respected carpet and flooring shops in the North West.
In 1986 we moved to our current location on Chorley New Road.
By 1990 we started supplying curtains and by the mid-1990s had added wallpaper and paints to our repertoire.
And we have nurtured our family roots over the years in other ways too. Russellβs sons Neill and Richard came on board and some of our longest serving staff are like family too. Stuart, one of our fitters has been with us since the early days when Walter opened, and over the years has trained all our fitters and still works for us. Iain, our store manager, came on board with the move to our current premises and Lesley our office accountant joined soon after. It is this loyalty and experience that we treasure today as our business continues to grow. We pride ourselves not only on our rich regional heritage but also our vast knowledge of the interiors industry and a service that is absolutely first class.
